Wow. You can change regimes in Iran and end Iranian support for global terror organizations with a simple phone call? Who knew! sign me up for this plan.

Of course not, but it’s a start. We start a war in Iraq and we are no further from protecting ourselves from nuclear threat from Iran. This war is not deterring them. All I am asking is for us to DIRECTLY tell Iran what we expect, and to hear straight from their mouths. No preconditions or concessions. I’d rather spend 20 bucks to do this than 100 billion in money and lost lives the other way. The current president will forever go down in history with the worst foreign policy ever…and his economic policy is not too far behind.

The Chamberlain approach to peace and security! What’s old is new again. This approach stuck 52 Americans in Iran for over 400 days as hostages. When the possibility of a military resolution increased, Iran sat down to negotiate.

We are making a grave error assuming that Iranian (and other Middle Eastern) culture is like ours. That we can just “talk it out” like a couple of good kids on the playground. This flawed understanding will continue to plague our interactions in the region until our cultural differences are understood and aknowledged.

Those hostages were released because Reagan secretly negotiated their released with an arms deal. I wonder why they were magically released shortly after Carter’s presidency ended. Don’t mistake talks with concession…and Churchill was kicked out of office for failure to deal with economic reality of the times. We can’t jump into war after war without crumbling like the British Empire or Soviet Union.

Anyways, Bush has already started the diplomatic road and good for him…

Now if we can stop funding the nuclear ambitions of Israel…

And when Ahmadinajad says “all of the worlds problems will end when Israel ends” and “Obama, did you know your counrty is controlled by Jews” and, “come join Islam, the one true religion!” Then what. That’s pretty much all you are going to get. Like Khrushchev lecturing Kennedy on the virtues of socialism, and then 39 days later the Berlin wall going up.

Iran wants a bomb, and they will build it only if we let them – we have to deal with that reality.

Now if we can stop funding the nuclear ambitions of Israel…

Is this in response to that whole, “We are going to wipe Iran off the map – Persia is for Jews” kind of thing? What ambitions do they have other than deterring nuclear-armed terrorist regimes from Israel them off the map? You are honestly going to play the “Israel is just as bad” game here? sheesh.

If we’re not prepared to offer concessions, and lots of ’em, what makes you think we won’t end up having to take the “100 billion in money and lost lives” route anyway?

Nuclear ambitions of Israel? Israel already has nuclear weapons. And they haven’t used them. And I haven’t really heard an Israeli PM threaten to wipe any other country off of the map. Iran and Israel are very odd choices for this kind of compare/contrast exercise.
