The Philadelphia Folk Festival has always been a tremendous opportunity to camp out and listen to different kinds of folk music. And with feature acts like Sonny Landreth, Iron and Wine, Justin Townes Earle, Enter The Haggis, and Langhorne Slim, it’s 48th year is going to be no exception. But there will also be plenty of local acts like Chris Kaspar and Wissahickon Chicken Shack. As if this amazing line-up weren’t enough, Jesse Lundy hinted that there were more surprises yet to come. “We have a couple more world-class acts; I mean major headliners, that we can’t announce just yet, so stay tuned†teased Lundy.
Crafts have always been a huge part of the folk tradition. And that’s exactly why the Folk Festival will also feature a widespread craft fair that shouldn’t disappoint. Walk through and admire the craftsmanship; watch the glassblowers, metalsmith, artists, and candlemakers at work; take home a one-of-a-kind item to help you remember the Festival during the winter.
