Last year it was a huge 3 day festival that featured the likes of Gogol Bordello, Vampire Weekend, and Daniel Johnston. It looked like it was going to grow in size and get relocated to FDR Park, Until Live Nation decided to pull out as a backer. But the good news is that Popped! Festival will still go on. And even though it will be on a smaller scale, it’s still going to be huge!
This year Popped! will happen on June 20th, will have an emphasis on local music, and will be a part of the 2nd Street Festival in Northern Liberties. It already has amazing bands like Blood Feathers, Birds Of Maya, Magnet City Kids, and Heavy Hands on the lineup, and it hasn’t even been finalized. there will be at least 60 local vendors on hand, EXIT Skate Shop will have a special half-pipe along 2nd Street, and local boutique Arcadia will be hosting an eco-friendly fashion show. And that’s only just the beginning, especially since they are still looking for vendors. And the best part about it is that it’s FREE! Popped! Festival website Philly.com blog story
