Mark your calendars for the weekend of June 17th because Philadelphia is in for a treat! Comedian Doug Benson is coming to  Helium Comedy Club. Now, you may be saying to yourself, “Hey, that guy looks familiar.  Where have I seen him?” Well the real question is where HAVEN’T you seen him! Doug was a fixture on the VH1 pop culture show “Best Week Ever,” a contestant on NBC’s “Last Comic Standing,” and he has two hilarious “Comedy Central Presents” specials. He’s also released two fantastic albums that are readily available on iTunes: “Professional Humoredian” and “Unbalanced Load.” His work on all these is great, but here’s a few more awesome things Doug does that you may not have heard of:
1. Doug stars in the documentary “Super High Me,” a parody of the lesser doc “Super Size Me” where he consumes marijuana for 30 days straight (“Business As Usual” was the alternate title, according to a joke in his act). The film is both funny and interesting and it is available on Netflix!
2. Doug hosts a comedy podcast called Doug Loves Movies that is taped live at the UCB Theatre in Los Angeles.  Doug invites his celebrity friends on stage and they discuss movies they’ve been in or they’ve recently seen.  Each episode ends with an exciting match of “The Leonard Maltin Game,” a contest of Doug’s own creation that gets surprisingly competitive. Subscribe to the podcast on iTunes and you won’t be disappointed!
3. Everyone knows what Twitter is.  Well, Doug is on there and he is one of the best! He consistently brings the funny and is also very receptive to his fans. Make sure to follow him if you are looking for a daily laugh!
Along with Doug this trip is comedian Graham Elwood, an equally funny and web-savvy fellow. Graham is also on Twitter , has a podcast/website called Comedy Film Nerds, and recently put out an album called “The Comedian’s Got a Boo Boo.”  Ladies and Gentlemen, this show should not be missed!!
