I hope not. I am a huge Cave In fan — ask anyone. Even my mom knows I’m way into Cave In. But this song that Cave In frontman Stephen Brodsky performed acoustically recently — which was recorded by a fan at Tremont Music Hall and sounds like utter shit, admittedly — isn’t very — what’s the word I’m looking for? — good.
The guitar work by Brodsky is awesome, and the opening of the song’s super promising. But Stephen’s voice sounds really different than what I’m used to it sounding like. And there’s feedback galore and you can hear some dumb bitch chattering away from first note to last, so it is not the best representation of what the new Cave In — supposedly in stores in a month or so — might sound like.
All excuses aside, a good song is a good song, no matter what it was recorded on or how much feedback there is. And this song just doesn’t do a fucking thing for me. It doesn’t tickle my Cave In bone, so to speak. It’s called “Reanimation” and you can hear it (sorta) after the jump.
Listen to it and tell us your thoughts in the comments section below. Regardless, I am still excited for the promise of new Cave In tunes and will devour the new shit when it comes out — whenever it comes out.
