I was never a huge fan of New York hardcore act Skarhead, but I did see them a bunch of times in the city. At places like CBGB, which is lovingly depicted on the cover of Skarhead’s upcoming covers LP.
Skarhead are good. They sort of got overlooked at the time, and I feel were rather underrated. Their covers disc, Dreams Don’t Die, drops next month through I Scream Records. With this CD, band founder Lord Ezec is paying tribute to some of his favorite bands from the unforgettable era between 1986 and 1989.
Yeah, the songs they chose to cover are all awesome too, so this disc holds some promise. They tackle “Stand For” by fucking Leeway, and “Pete’s Sake” by Sick of It All. “Backtrack” by Killing Time and “Cup o Joe” by Sheer Terror…I mean, that’s rad.
I will be looking forward to this fucker when it drops. They also cover Outburst’s “The Hard Way,” Warzone’s “As One,” “Malfunction” by the Cro-Mags, and “Trueblue” by Underdog. They also tackle Bad Brains, Youth of Today, Agnostic Front, and…Cyndi Lauper?
