This Saturday The Maine will be here in Seattle! The Maine finally announced their nationwide co-headlining tour with Augustana. The band has made quite a name for themselves, having only been together since 2007. I first heard them when their single ‘Into Your Arms’ was over-played on KISS 106.1. The five-piece band is touring to promote their major label debut ‘Black & White’, which was released on July 13, 2010.
Rolling Stone named The Maine one of “Bamboozle’s Five Breakout Bands to Watch,” and Alternative Press, which the band has graced the cover of twice, declared them “The new face of American pop.” Although I personally might be a tad older than their teenage girl demographic, I agree with what the press is saying. Their music is quality mainstream pop/rock.
The band said a few words about their tour on their latest press release: “We can’t wait to be on the road with two incredible acts, Augustana and Austin Gibbs,” says The Maine front man John O’Callaghan. “Expect an evening of earnest, high energy rock and roll. We look forward to sharing this experience with everyone!”
I look forward to seeing The Maine and Augustana (my favorite band from my teenage years) show Seattle what rock has transformed into. Hopefully the screaming tweens don’t blow out my eardrums! Just kidding folks; Showbox at the Market has both all ages and 21 and over tickets available.
