Episode 2 of HBO 24/7 Mayweather/Ortiz started off in the neon-lit city of Las Vegas, where Floyd Mayweather Jr. was participating in a video shoot for 50 cent; also tagging along was Mike Tyson. From there, the show got a bit silly, as 50 Cent and Mayweather used stacks of money as phones, breaking down the beef between Big Floyd and Little Floyd in the previous episode.
“I could care less what my father is doing,†Mayweather Jr. said.
Throughout the show, Mayweather hurled several insults at Victor Ortiz, including a comment on Ortiz’s loss to Marcos Maidana, where he Ortiz clearly appeared to quit, and later claimed that he wasn’t completely there in that fight.
“ ‘I wasn’t there that night.’ Mother—- you were on the canvas!†Mayweather said.
On the flip side, Ortiz was calm and collected in a zone, listening to his tunes. He makes his way to L.A. to tape a Piers Morgan show, and hangs out with Oscar De La Hoya. A clip from the show displays Ortiz with confidence.
“Fear is not even in my dictionary,†Ortiz proclaimed.
Switching back to the Mayweather camp, Cornelius Boza-Edwards watches over Roger Mayweather, as his health has depleted because of diabetes. Roger Mayweather explains the legal charges he’s facing due to a conflict with a female fighter.
“She hit me, she got to learn a damn lesson,†Roger Mayweather said.
Back at the Ortiz camp, De La Hoya visits Ortiz and gives him some sound advice and words of encouragement.
“I was done when he [Mayweather] fought me. This is a whole different game for him. He should be the underdog,†De La Hoya told Ortiz.
We then see Ortiz getting a massage, and he gets into a story about the change of his tattoo on his back. Earlier, he had the name “Ortiz†tattooed on his back, but quickly changed it when his dad told him he was proud to see his name on his son’s back. Ortiz covered the name up with a new design.
Back at the Mayweather camp, after Floyd’s 3rd workout of the day, we’re treated to an impromptu song by Floyd himself with a singing voice not on par with his boxing skills. He ends the song saying that his haters won’t get their money back, because PPV is non-refundable.
Ortiz called out Mayweather for his tasteless act of burning money in public.
“If you’re really that careless about money like that then who knows where the rest of your life will take you,” Ortiz said. “I don’t think he could quite handle the adversities I have.”
At the shows end, we join Mayweather for a run, and he tells us that his father was a crap fighter, “Victor Ortiz looks like a Victoria Secret Model,†and “Oscar De La Hoya is in drag, doing coke.â€
