Queen haven’t been the same since Freddie Mercury died. It’s hard to recover from losing a charismatic frontman like that. Now Brian May says he is open to retooling the band with Lady Gaga behind the mike.
“We talk about going out on the road all the time but there’s a bit of a singer problem to put it mildly,” May tells the Daily Express of London. “We get a lot of offers to work with other people. I worked with Lady Gaga and she’s very creative and is someone we’ve talked about singing, fronting the band with. She’s not just a singer, she writes her own material.”
Oh does she now? Come on, May — what the fuck? Really? Queens fans would not stand for it, I don’t think.
May performed with Gaga recently at the MTV Video Music Awards, which is a fucking party — trust.
“We have talked about doing duets with other people and in a strange way I almost pressed the ‘yes’ button,” he said. “We were debating the idea of a TV show where we have all these guest stars. We didn’t press it today but we are still looking at it. Lady Gaga has said she would like to do something with us.”
There you have it. I bet you in late 2012, we’ll be hearing of the new Queen album, with Lady Gaga fronting band. For some reason, “Mama, just killed a man” won’t sound as believable coming from Lady Gaga’s lips. Not that Freddie was all that intimidating.
