This is an awesome day, people. Yes — I was forced out of my humble dwelling yesterday because of a fucking electrical fire, but today, Gun Shy Assassin is hosting an exclusive Death track. That makes up for it, if only a little.
As you probably are aware, Relapse has been slowly reissuing Death’s catalogue, and on February 28, will re-release Vivus!, a deluxe two-CD collection of two different Death concerts.
The shows were recorded in 1998, and the first disc features the band at the height of its prowess, tearing the roof off the infamous Whisky A Go Go in Hollywood, California. The second disc is a “brilliant recording of the band on the festival stage at Dynamo Open Air in Eindhoven, Holland.”
The song at the end of this post is “Flesh And The Power It Holds,” a song you should know. But listen anyways. It’s a great live rendition, and makes me miss Chuck a lot.
Vivus! will be made available on March 2 in the Benelux and Germany. The rest of Europe will get the set on March 5.
Like the previous reissues, Vivus! this will contain extensive liner notes from Death insiders and never-before-seen photos of the band. Death drummer Richard Christy and the band’s long-time manager Eric Greif contributed heavily to the revised liner notes.
You can pre-order Vivus! here.
So, like we said…here now is “Flesh And The Power It Holds” from the one, the only — Death!
