Now is a period in history where studios produce teaser trailers for teaser trailers.
Because it’s not enough to just be excited for Rian Johnson’s time travel actioner Looper, and wait patiently for the trailer, Sony is launching a series of vignettes until the trailer finally hits on Thursday, April 12. The first of these pieces is embedded below.
Here is the official synopsis:
In the futuristic action thriller Looper, time travel will be invented, but it will be illegal and only available on the black market. When the mob wants to get rid of someone, they send their target 30 years into the past, where a “looperâ€â€”a hired gun, like Joe (Joseph Gordon-Levitt)—is waiting to mop up. Joe is getting rich and life is good. . . until the day the mob decides to “close the loop,†sending back Joe’s future self (Bruce Willis) for assassination.
Looper has a unique premise, coupled with an excellent cast. The closer this film creeps towards theaters, the more exciting it looks.
This brief video doesn’t reveal much, other than the fact no one thinks Gordon-Levitt would stand a chance if actually pitted against Bruce Willis, including Gordon-Levitt. And that’s not much of a surprise. There is a lot of emphasis placed on how action heavy Looper is, which is never a bad thing. Johnson and Gordon-Levitt have a nice back and forth, and there is just enough footage from the movie to whet your appetite for Looper, so this is worth a quick look.
Johnson wrote and directed “Looperâ€, which also stars Emily Blunt, Paul Dano, and Jeff Daniels.
Looper time travels into theaters September 28, 2012.
