Six Organs of Admittance will hit up Johnny Brenda’s on December 2nd, sharing a stage quite appropriately with Blues Control.  Six Organs is the main musical project of guitarist Ben Chasny.  His work fits mainly into the new folk vein, including aspects of avant-garde, classical music, pop and psychedelia. He will perform this Sunday with a full band.
Chasny’s music can be raucous one minute, and repetitive and dream-like the next.  It can be tonally ambiguous or more melodically straightforward, distorted and brash one second, but mellifluous and kind the next.  For instance, the instrumental section of “They Called You Nearâ€, a track off his latest record entitled Ascent, is as benevolent as an Irish folk tune, while “Waswasa†features riffy and soloistic electric guitars.  Chasny’s primary instruments are acoustic and electric guitars and percussion, encompassing drones, chimes and incredible solos atop looping bass lines.  Six Organs will without a doubt challenge the listener, but can make them feel safe and warm at the same time.
Johnny Brenda’s is located at 1201 N. Frankford Ave. in Philadelphia.
