If you’re chomping at the bit to see the hit Broadway musical, The Book of Mormon during its Seattle run, you might have gone to the Paramount Theatre website, www.stgpresents.org, to buy tickets. Aaaannnnnd there aren’t any. While they aren’t saying the show is sold out, if you can’t buy tickets, it certainly isn’t going to be easy to find them.
Well, they just announced a lottery sale on a “per performance” basis for 20 tickets a night, costing only $25 per ticket. With a bit of effort you might be able to win one of the 20 tickets. Beginning with the first performance, Tuesday, January 8, 2013, a pre-show lottery will be held.
Instructions are as follows:
“Entries will be accepted at the box office beginning two and a half hours prior to each performance; each person will print their name and the number of tickets (1 or 2) they wish to purchase on a card that is provided. Two hours before curtain, names will be drawn at random for a limited number of tickets priced at $25 each. Cards are checked for duplication prior to drawing. Winners must be present at the time of the drawing and show valid ID to purchase tickets. Limit one entry per person and two tickets per winner.”
Once you’ve gotten your tickets, there are lots of fun eateries you can visit and have a nice evening dinner-and-show combo. If you have the stamina, you can do the lottery as often as you wish. Winning doesn’t sound easy.
If you’re motivated to go to craigslist or somewhere like that to find tickets, please be aware that there are all sorts of scam artists who want to take your money and run. Even if you get tickets, they can be faked and you’ll go to the theater and not be able to get a seat.
THE BOOK OF MORMON, winner of nine Tony Awards including Best Musical, runs from Tuesday, January 8, 2013 at The Paramount Theatre in Seattle and plays a limited two week engagement through Sunday, January 20.
