Google tests new search page and logo
Google is giving all Web users a little Christmas present a bit early in the form of a new search results page and logo.
Google Blogoscoped is reporting that if you go to Google.com, enter a snippet of JavaScript in your address bar, hit enter and then reload the page, you will now be a part of a new Google test.
The code you need to paste into the address bar is:
javascript:void(document.cookie="PREF=ID=20b6e4c2f44943bb:U=4bf292d46faad806:TM=1249677602:LM=1257919388:S=odm0Ys-53ZueXfZG;path=/; domain=.google.com");
We ran the test in the Chrome browser, and sure enough we got the new logo pictured above, and new “Search” and “I’m Feeling Lucky” buttons. Once you do a search, you will really see the changes in the form of a new left-hand sidebar. You will find easy access to other search results for News, and by clicking on “More” you can quickly switch to other search results for Images, Blogs and more.
All-in-all the new search results page feels a bit more user-friendly, and switching between the different areas is definitely faster. No clue why this is the only way you can get it for now, but it’s worth checking out.
