Facebook workforce at 1,300 and growing

Facebook workforce at 1,300 and growingFacebook now employs around 1,300 staff, and there are no signs of that growth in its workforce slowing down, with plans to increase it another 50 percent this year. Then again, with more than 400 million active users on the site, 1,300 isn’t that huge a number.

According to Inside Facebook, the social networking site now employs more than 1,300 people, with plans to add a lot more in the months ahead, including offices in Texas and India.

Facebook is based in Palo Alto, California, right next to Stanford University. And it has recently moved its headquarters up the street to increase its office space from 135,000 square feet to 235,000 square feet.

With such a burgeoning workforce and the increased office space they require, it’s a good thing Facebook is actually starting to turn a profit. The company is estimated to have made around $700 million last year and be on course to make $1.1 billion this year.

And head honcho Mark Zuckerberg even made 212th place on the 2010 Forbes Rich List, listed as being worth $4 billion. The lucky sod.
