Windows Vista RC2 is released

By Staff reporters

Windows Vista has hit another milestone with the availability of the ‘Release Candidate 2′ version of this next-gen operating system.

RC2 fixes many of the bugs in the previous RC1 version, and is slated to be the final (or at least one of the very last) test versions of Vista before it is RTM’d (released to manufacture), with business availability due in November, and general consumer availability due sometime in January, 2007.

This new version has more of the ‘fit, finish and shine’ you’d expect to see in the final version, along with more compatibility with existing Windows XP applications. If you want to try it out, you can get it from the link above, although at over 2Gb in size, it’ll take a while to download. You should only really do this if you have a spare computer to test it on, and you know what you’re doing – the final version will be with us soon enough, after all. It is, though, great to see yet another improved version appear. I’ll be downloading it sometime this week and installing it, and will let you know how it goes!

Hey, Alex, why show us some screenshots of Vista??

    2. Alex Zaharov-Reutt:

I could show you some screenshots of Vista, but I’ve only got RC1 on my computer at the moment. However… I will be downloading RC2 over the next couple of days and will definitely be posting some lovely screenshots, although for the time being, feel free to go to http://www.winsupersite.com where you can see an RC2 screenshot gallery.
