Never get stuck with an acronym again

By George Gardner

With the ever increasing use of acronyms on the Internet, who’s to say what anything stands for? I’ve discovered an online utility, Acronym Finder, to help.

Aside from Internet acronyms, which can be found in the “Slang & Pop Culture” category, Acronym Finder can assist you in information technology, military & government, business & finance, science & medicine, and organizations & schools.

Acronym Finder is the world’s largest and most comprehensive online acronym dictionary with over 525,000 human edited acronyms, abbreviations, and initialisms.

Included on this web site is the Acronym Attic, a search engine with definitions to over 3 million acronyms. A simple search for LOL returned over 60 meanings and definitions!

One of the new features include a small toolbar for Internet Explorer 7 (allowing you to perform acronym searches within IE7) to utilize the dictionary without having to type in the web address.

I consider this online tool to be a “Social Network Dictionary”. Many times I need such a tool to understand one of the numerous terms commonly used in social networking; although, I also use it JFK.
