Forget my spouse; I’ve got my computer
Is your love life getting in the way of your computer time? A new study commissioned by Support.com and conducted by Kelton Research, an independent research firm, says your not alone. Everyone else is doing it, and at an increasing rate. 65% of consumers, to be exact, are spending more of their quality time with their computer than their spouse; I, for one, am certainly guilty.

From the moment I wake up, reaching over, not to my spouse; but rather to the power button on my nightstand-based laptop which provides me much required computer time through the night time hours. According to renowned psychotherapist, Robi Ludwig, that’s not even the extent of it. “As computers become increasingly pervasive in our lives, our relationships with them can begin to seem almost as important as a relationship with a significant other. When problems then occur with the computer, it often leaves people feeling frustrated or helpless.”
The “Cyber Stress” study confirms our growing relationship with technology; stating that 84% of Americans are more dependent on their home computers than 3 years ago. This be not the case with me, my dependencies have moved from my home computer to my portable computer.
The study also concludes that the average consumer experiences computer troubles around every 4 months; and wastes around 12 hours per month due to computer troubles. The only problem is you can’t take your computer to counseling; however, you could always divorce your computer for a new one, but that process is costly and your old computer is entitled to half of all your files.
