AMD has announced new interoperability testing tools, codenamed ‘Simfire,’ aimed to help accelerate the adoption of Desktop and mobile Architecture for System Hardware (DASH) specification, a web services-based management technology that enables IT professionals to remotely manage desktop and mobile PCs from anywhere in the world, regardless of the state of the remote PC.

By now you might have heard of Julie Amero, the middle school teacher who has been convicted of four counts of risk of injury to a minor, or impairing the morals of a child. If you haven’t heard, all of this happened because porn pop-ups appeared on a class room computer. Just about every computer expert has said this was due to spyware and various malware present on the system but according to the courts, it is her fault. Things may be about to change.

IBM is pushing towards a world where you can download files faster than your hard drive can write them. At the 2007 Optical Fiber Conference, IBM will unveil a prototype optical transceiver chipset expected to reach speeds at least eight times faster than any optical component available today.

A U.S. District Court judge has dismissed the case brought by KinderStart against Google, which claimed that the Internet’s leading search engine used its page ranking powers in an anticompetitive way to block competing search sites.

Attorney General Bill McCollum today joined US Attorneys for the unveiling of the Public Service Announcement campaign encouraging internet safe specifically for children. The move received an official endorsement from the Florida Sheriffs Association for the CyberCrimes Against Children Act of 2007, a critical piece of legislation intended to strengthen the fight against those who commit internet crimes against children.

Microsoft has closed its video sharing site to new users while it implements new technology to detect uploaded videos that could have copyright restrictions. The Soapbox, while still on its public beta stage, was poised to be Microsoft’s answer to Google’s YouTube.

Digitimes, a technology news site, believes that Apple will delay the release of its much-anticipated new operating system, Leopard, until October. As Apple has revealed their intentions to integrate a program similar to Boot Camp that will allow users to run Windows along with Leopard, Digitimes claims Apple will need substantially more time to refine Vista integration.

Symantec, the company responsible for the ever-infamous Norton Anti-Virus, has just released their 11th Internet Security Threat Report this March. The meat and potatoes of the report claim that Windows is the most secure operating system currently on the market(yes, as in Microsoft Windows).
