Geek Squad becomes Peep Squad
A Geek Squad computer repair technician has been accused of using his mobile phone to secretly video record a 22-year-old Californian woman having a shower while on a service call to fix two computers.
The woman, Sarah Vasquez (pictured), and her mother, Natalie Fornaciari, filed a lawsuit against Best Buy and Geek Squad, seeking compensation for intentional infliction of emotional stress, invasion of privacy, and negligent misrepresentation and hiring.
The technician at the center of the allegation, 26-year-old Hao Kuo Chi, is alleged to have placed his mobile phone on a bathroom sink so that he could video record Vasquez having a shower.
Vasquez noticed the mobile phone “blinking” when she finished her shower. She called her 13-year-old sister, Kelly Rocha, who removed the memory chip from the phone. The sisters then went to a local mobile phone store, where they were able to view the offending video.
“I was embarrassed; I didn’t even want to look at (the video) anymore,” Vasquez told reporters.
The girls’ mother delayed Chi so that he could be arrested.
It’s also alleged that Chi placed a mobile phone in Rocha’s bedroom.
In addition to the Vasquez/Fornaciari law suit, Chi is also facing criminal charges of invasion of privacy and molesting a child under 18.
Best Buy issued a statement stating that it would “cooperate fully with any investigation”.
The introduction of video mobile phones has brought on a new era of possibility for peeping Toms; we’ve all heard about peeping Toms with mobile phones at beaches and other public places. Now it seems that you’re not even safe in your own home.

Story sounds fake. First of all it’s not Best Buys or Geek Squads fault if this guy even did it. They are trying to score money. The guy has 2 phones? Who takes a shower when a repair man is over? How would you not notice cell phone that is not yours sitting in the bathroom before you got in the shower? How did this guy get around all over the house? I know if I have a repair man over he isn’t going to roam the house! Why wouldn’t they just view it right there on the phone if that’s the case? Why go to a store? I just still don’t see how she could take a shower and not even notice the phone there till AFTER the shower!!! This world is so full of idiots!!

What seems even more ridiculous is the fact that she took it to a store later and let her sister view the video along with God knows who!!!

Jon, Not saying that it didn’t happen, but just wondering how stupid could you be??? If it all went down that when then these girls are REALLY STUPID not to notice this stuff and let this guy get around like he did!! Also it’s not Best Buys fault this guy is a creep! This just shows you how messed up our judicial system is. Come to America, the country where you can sue anyone for nothing at all! Hang the kid, not Best Buy.
