Worlds first HDTV Refrigerator: Life’s good in the kitchen
Leave it to LG Electronics to not just think up a High Definition television/refrigerator, but to actually implement the idea and bring it to the consumer’s kitchen, or living room for that matter.
The new LG HDTV incorporates LG’s powerful fifth-generation ATSC-QAM-NTSC digital television tuner to deliver a crisp digital broadcast to a 15″ HD LCD screen located conveniently on your refrigerator.
“LG is taking this innovation one step further with the introduction of our HDTV Refrigerator by incorporating additional
features that further enhance the user experience, from LG’s industry-leading digital TV tuner to the Weather & Info Center for weather forecasts, uploadable photo album and recipe bank,” said John Herrington, president of LG Electronics USA, Digital Appliances.
But this device/appliance goes way beyond innovative, as it’s nearly touching the line of having a practical use in the home.
LG Electronics’ HDTV Refrigerator also boasts a remote control, an FM radio, a 4″ Weather & Info Center (located above the ice and water dispenser), and a DVD connection on the top of the unit.
This unit comes standard with a USB port, located in the dispenser area, which allows you to upload your digital photos and create a slideshow on your 15″ HD LCD display.
As for the wives, the refrigerator comes pre-loaded with recipes from the Culinary Institute of America such as chilled gazpacho soup and tiramisu.
The LG HDTV Refrigerator, model LSC27990TT, shows us that life’s also good in the kitchen, and will be available in the second quarter of 2007 at a MSRP of $3,999.

If it weren’t for the fact that this refrigerator contains an HDTV, I would never have guessed you wrote this in 2007. Are you serious when you start off a sentence about recipes with “As for the wives…”?

Bought this in april 27,2006. today is may 25th.
Two to three weeks ago the tv in the LG refrigerator started to make a loud fan noise when turned on. so much so the volume has to be adjusted and the noise is also irritating.
This tv has ONLY been turned on 3-6 hours per weekend. Or less, (not every weekend).
Mathematically, this problem would have occured within the warrenty period.
Be aware of this problem before the warrenty is up (one year).
