Try some fun Google experiments

Try some fun Google experiments Got some spare time on your hands? Got some work that you’re trying to avoid? Well Google’s fun new Google Experimental is the perfect time-waster pastime for you!

It’s an experimental search engine where you can try out some of the new technology that Google is working on.

One of the first experiments to be featured on the site enables users to view their search results on a map or timeline.

For instance, when someone searches for “Thomas Jefferson” on Google Experimental, they can choose to view the search results on a map that shows locations mentioned within web pages about Thomas Jefferson or on a timeline that illustrates the history of Thomas Jefferson’s life.

You can also access these views from the regular Google page. Just type in view:map and view:timeline when you type in your search terms.

I tried my own name (I know it’s very vain to do this), and got some valid results in both views. In my case it picked up information from the “About us” on this site.

I can see that both of these “views” will be very useful for things such as school projects, and for those quiet times in the office.
