MyLiveSearch a competitor to Google? Not likely
By George Gardner
Everyone’s getting word of the hot, new search engine in town, known as MyLiveSearch; which, appropriately named, is the Internet’s first, true ‘real-time’ search engine. But we’re not comparing Zunes to iPods, so don’t let any other site challenge your common sense as they portray MyLiveSearch to be a competitor to Google.
I’m sure we’re all familiar with Google by now. The results you see on a Google search are simply a list of pre-indexed sites that may have been crawled by Google 2 hours to 2 weeks prior to your search. The Live search does not work in this way; instead, keywords are searched in ‘real-time’ (as you wait?) to deliver the absolute latest content possible on the Web.
MyLiveSearch’s technology has been in development for the past 8 years from an Australian-based team headed by the self-taught software developer, Rob Gabriel, claims his search engine gives better and more relevant search results than Google for the simple fact that it’s a ‘live’ search.
Gabriel’s new search engine works by use of a browser plug-in, which some may argue to be a much greater hassle than simply using a web-based search. The search terms used on MyLiveSearch are initially put through Google and other indexed search databases.
Gabriel claims your results will come back in seconds, and boasts them to be richer and more detailed than an index-based search such as Google, Yahoo, or Ask.
“Google can’t search every page every day (to build its index). The web is so dynamic and changes so often – MyLiveSearch turns your own computer into a ’super-spider’ to search it in real time,” Said Rob Gabriel. “This technology could be snapped onto any of the major search engines and improve them.”
Rob didn’t make it clear exactly how a ‘live’ search works, but it’s definitely something to keep an eye on. The MyLiveSearch site (including logo) could use a bit of Web 2.0 polishing, but if you’re interested to try Gabriel’s live search, you can sign up for beta testing notification on MyLiveSearch.com. As far as stealing Google market share? Let’s just say, it’ll be a cold day in Google Hell.

I just got a data plan on my mobile. I pretty much do not need my computer anymore since I do so much with my mobile phone. The neatest thing is that I can even watch naughty movies:) It is pretty neat, it’s called Mobile TV. All I do is point my phone to sexoncell.com and they have adult mobile movies in different formats like 3gp movies, symbian, pda or whatever. If you have any other cool sites, please let me know! This one, though, even has a free daily mobile movie.

Hype, hype and more hype. Did I mention dishonest, conveniently forgetful and evasive? MyLiveSearch, your technology cannot succeed without the help of your industry — whom you treat so poorly.
Apologies for being off-topic, but I would suggest that any supplier considering working with the MyLiveSearch team to steer well clear. I know of people who haven’t been paid for ANY work, 6 months on, when they busted a gut to help these guys. This is simply an unacceptable to treat suppliers who only wanted to see them succeed.
Rant over.
