Nothing would be more frustrating than seeing a competitor’s product being used in your own backyard. This is what it seems happening at Microsoft. The company is apparently offering “amnesty” to Zune employees who give up their iPods in favor of the Zune MP3 player.

Californian company Target Technology is demanding that three Sony-related companies stop manufacturing and distributing all Blu-ray discs. Target Technology alleges that the technology used to manufacture Blu-ray discs violates one of its patents.
Target Technology specializes in manufacturing and selling thin metallic alloys for optical discs.

Most people love MySpace, in fact, the social networking site now hosts more than 180 million profiles. But what if MySpace falsely labeled you as sex offender, had your profile and your page taken down, had your name and information included in the database of sex offenders, and which was distributed to several Attorneys General? I hope what happened to Jessica Davis will never happen to you.

AT&T surely has been making a name for itself, what with the recent acquisition of Cingular, and the long exclusivity deal with Apple for the iPhone. Now, to top it off, they are trying to gain a foot up in the television market with a new product called U-verse, which will give users television through…telephone lines?

With Microsoft’s recent acquisition of Aquantive, an online advertising company, for $US6 billion, it’s pretty clear that Microsoft wants a slice of the online advertising market, which is dominated by Google.

You may have heard about the update Symantec issued to its antivirus products that crippled Chinese language versions of Windows XP but only the Chinese language versions. The update was issued during the early morning hours Bejing time and the software happily went about updating.

An Illinois family has filed a lawsuit claiming that an Xbox 360 manufactured by Microsoft and sold by a Wal-Mart overheated and caused a fire which resulted in the death of the family’s infant son.

The United States Government Accountability Office (GAO) was recently asked to assess the security on one of the Federal Bureau of Investigation’s critical networks. This specific network is used to communicate, capture, exchange, and access law enforcement and investigative information – something you certainly wouldn’t want to get in the wrong hands. No problems for the FBI, right? You’d be surprised how many errors were found.

It is no secret that social networking sites are the new face of the internet community; Facebook, long time collegiate networking website, along with MySpace, free-to-all stalker’s paradise, are now searching for ways to surpass the success and members of the other. However, Mark Zuckerberg, CEO of Facebook, is now issuing a plea to all users and software designers alike to contribute new angles and facets to the site that seems to be slowly falling away from the frontrunner, MySpace.

Check that email address! There could be serious consequences if you don’t, judging from an incident reported Thursday. Because of a mistaken email address, over 500 of Karl Rove’s emails ended up in the hands of an investigative reporter.

Windows has about 92 percent share of the desktop OS market, with the Mac OS second at about 4.1 percent, and Linux third at 3.8 percent. With the official launch of Dell’s first three consumer PCs running the Ubuntu 7.04 Linux OS, one tough question needs to be answered. Will Dell help Linux reduce Windows’ domination of the OS market?

You receive junk e-mail in your inbox. Not just one or two pieces, but a multitude of spam; which, effectively makes up the better percentage of your total e-mails. Sure, your spam filter may catch the most of them, but there are always a few that seem to slip through the cracks. “Hello, old friend,” they say, as you’re opening the e-mail to find out just ‘who’ from your past may be trying to contact you.

With the US Department for Energy calling for more hydrogen-powered fuel cell cars by 2011, it seems that “hydrogen economy” researches are coming out of the closet. Hot on the heels of the proposed Aluminum pellet hydrogen car, researchers at Virginia Tech, Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL), and the University of Georgia are proposing the use of sugary carbohydrates (polysaccharides) from biomass to directly produce low-cost hydrogen for the so called hydrogen economy.
