Hey campers and auctioneers, iPhone still available!

June 30, 2007

Hey campers and auctioneers, iPhone still available! You can call camping outside an Apple store, for a guarantee to purchase an iPhone, a good time; but there’s certainly nothing like the burn you feel when you wake up the next day to discover that the iPhone didn’t sell out.

Spend a couple minutes looking through apple.com/retail/iphone/ and you’ll discover that there are still iPhones available at all 164 U.S. Apple locations. You’ll also quickly come to the realization that your lawn chairs, sleeping bags, supplies of food and water, and sleepless nights probably weren’t necessary.

But it’s not too late to be a good sport about it. You could always fall back on the “I had a good time” excuse or, at the very least, you can still say you were one of the first few to purchase Apple’s iPhone at an inflated price due to the money you lost by not going to work.

And don’t try to make up the lost money on eBay because the competition is fierce. There are currently 7,461 iPhones on eBay, most of which have not surpassed retail value. Although, there are a few ‘lucky’ iPhone auctions where the seller has turned a profit.

Of course, you could always do what Spike Lee did, and auction your iPhone for charity. Either way, what you campers and auctioneers have done, or are doing, while it be totally unnecessary, is definitely commendable.
