“DVD Jon” cracks iPhone to become WiFi iPod

The name “DVD Jon” should be familiar to most of us, he is the software engineer who released code that cracked the DVD content scrambling system way back in 2002. Supposedly he has found some data regarding iPhone activation and has created software to bypass standard iTunes activation.
His activation system does not enable the phone functionality; it basically turns an iPhone into an expensive WiFi enabled iPod.
He has not said if, after using his software that the iPhone could be activated using the standard method through iTunes should you wish to enable its phone functionality, at some point.
Of course, if you are already an AT&T customer it is possible to swap out the SIM chip in the iPhone with the one in your current phone. It’s not recommended that you do so but it can be done and will work.
If you ask me, neither of these methods is worth it. It’s not known if the “DVD Jon” method will let you sign on to AT&T later if you should want and it’s not known if you could take your SIM chip back out of the iPhone and proceed to activate it normally as well.
Some of you might be brave enough to turn your iPhone into little more than a $600 paperweight but I am not.

Don’t forget to put your DVD to iPhone using the AVex DVD to iPhone Video Suite, support 640×480 H264 and MP4 for DVD movies and video files. Moreover, you can use it to convert your video files in batch in 640×480 H264 and MP4, a great feature to have.
