Dell expands to Asian retail stores

By Jonathan Schlaffer

Dell expands to Asian retail stores Dell is looking to expand its market. It’s already possible to pick up low priced Dell computers in US Wal-Mart stores but starting very soon, low cost Dell computers will be available in Asian retail stores.

The company is currently in talks with various Asian retail chains excluding locations in Japan, China and South Korea but avoided naming names.

Paul-Henri Ferrand, head of Dell Operations in the Asia-Pacific region said, “Asia is a diverse region, so the indirect (retail) approach in the region will come sooner in some countries and later in others.”

In those areas he also said that Dell will market both low end and high end systems based on the store and country that the computers are being sold in.

According to Cnet, almost 85 percent of Dell’s $57 billion revenue came from large contract sales to corporations, governments and other businesses of varying sizes and complexity.

Dell is currently the number 2 PC manufacturer losing the number 1 spot to HP. That isn’t going to stop it as Ferrand said sales are growing even faster developing markets like Pakistan, Indonesia and the Philippines.
