iPods – a great way to “spark” your workout
By Triston McIntyre
Many of you workout-aholics get stuck in routines and feel like there isn’t much dynamic to your workout, so here’s a tip: if you take up jogging with an iPod, you just might get rewarded with a spark to your routine…in the form of high-voltage lightning.
One unlucky jogger in Vancouver was doing his thing when a tree he passed was struck by a bolt of lighting, which continued its earth-bound trajectory by jumping to the unlucky man and his Apple gadget.
Needless to say, the damage was extensive; his jaw was fractured in four locations, his eardrums were ruptured, and to top it all off, he received first and second degree burns on his chest where his iPod was attached, and in two lines up to his ears along the cords of the iPod earbuds.
Though this accident occured 2 years ago, the man is still suffering the ill-effects of the encounter; he is experiencing 50% loss of hearing in both ears, and was forced to undergo surgery to graft his eardrums and repair his jaw.
All of this to jam out to a few tunes whilest trying to stay in shape; the doctor who dealt with the unidentified runner alerted users that although using an iPod will not increase lightning attractiveness, the damages could be more extensive if lightning were to strike the wearer.
