Wardrivers beware! Belkin router comes with interactive LCD display

By George Gardner

Wardrivers beware! Belkin router comes with interactive LCD display To boldly go where no router has gone before, Belkin’s new N1 Vision wireless router comes complete with an interactive display to view your network’s activity – a simply brilliant idea.

The interactive LED display allows you to view the number of connected devices (clients), each client’s bandwidth usage, and comes with a download/upload speedometer.

Belkin was also kind enough to throw in a clock. But, aside from that,  one of the neatest features about the display is its ability to give you a guest access network key without having to open any software or access any internal router management system.

The N1 vision wireless router is compatible with 802.11a, b, ab, and n draft 2.0 networks and comes secure with WPA2 encryption capability.

“We always strive to build products that are useful, simple, and thoughtfully designed,” said Chris McGugan, VP of Product Management for Belkin. “Here, we’ve evolved the intuitive LED display from our flagship N1 Wireless Router into an interactive LCD on the N1 Vision, giving you a sophisticated wireless router that tells you much more about your network activity.”

A retail price of $200 is a bit steep, but the 802.11n compatibility, combined with the warm feeling of knowing when wardrivers (or war-neighbors nowadays) tap your connection, is well worth it.
