There are some fascinating closing dates in this article however I don’t know if I see all of them center to heart. There's some validity but I will take maintain opinion till I look into it further. Good article , thanks and we would like extra! Added to FeedBurner as nicely

It's their ballgame, their business and they've standardized on Windows. Those like me who refuse to use Windows are simply our of luck. But the decision to not use Windows was my decision and I'm ready to lose some things. If you must have Comcast movies and vids then use IE. Uhhh...if you simply have to have a GM V-8 engine, better buy a Ford or a Porsche. But don't buy a Ford and complain you don't have GM drive train elements. I know..not the same thing. Well, it is and those of you who think it's not, well.......don't get to watch the Comcast content. Wait...that's me!! Oh yeah...my decision...sorry, I forgot.

Comcast does support safari for mac. I know we all want to use a certain browser but troubleshooting is better if using a supported browser.

Yeah pretty much. When the guy from Comcast here in Nashville came out to install their overpriced modem crap, all they could do was cuss and say how much they hated installing it on a mac.

Hopefully another provider will come along and take comcasts business away soon........they seem to have a monopoly going in our region ,so that allows them to put any price on their cable bills ...which isn't low , I'll tell you that!

wtf is wrong with you people? No ISP troubleshoots firefox and Linux. They're freeware for a reason. Why are you using either if you expect someone to troubleshoot it for you? As for requiring IE on macs, thats bullsh--. The cd works on Safari just as well as it does on IE. Do some research before you try to bitch about things like this.

I have been with Comcast for many years. I currently buy their business cable product for my home office, and I do not own a computer that runs Windows natively. The reason I switched to the business product initially was for the speed and the freedom to run whatever servers I wanted on whatever ports I needed. It's been the best move I've ever made. I get a separate line to call in case of problems (only drawback is no nights or weekends), but service is straightforward and I've never been told to run what they want me to. Sure, I pay $100/month for it, but when you host five domains and need the dedicated IP and bandwith, it's well worth it.

I have had my problems with the browsers and the technical support that many have expressed, but their software is not needed and I don't use their "value added" services anyway as I much prefer other sites over theirs. As for their email, I've never had a problem with it and can use whatever client I want. Technical support guys at the teir 1 level I bypass very quickly as they're nothing but trained monkeys, but show me a large company that doesn't do this -- there isn't one.

Paying their bill? Safari on the Mac works fine folks....try it out. Speaking of web stuff....I code web pages too and have never bought into the whole proprietary code thing. When you actually get down and dirty and code to W3C standards, it's IE that has it wrong, not every other browser out there. As a matter of fact, the FF, Safari, iCab, Camino, Opera, and Mozilla's of the world render the pages I write identically where IE will screw up the CSS positioning every time. This is due to Microsoft's independant decision to interpret the box model differently than everyone else. Cross-platform web scripting? Again, IE is the most difficult to work with as every other browser works when you compare the code with the standard.

Bottom line? It might take a while, but Open Source is the wave of the future. Microsoft already has one black eye from having to rewrite code for the AMD processor, and a second from being the last to deploy a good 64 bit platform in the consumer market. Looks like Goliath is starting to get woozy from David's stones.......
