The long awaited update to Verizon’s Motorola Q, the Motorola Q9m, may hit store’s by the end of July.

A Motorola Q user known as robwpolk recently posted the launch details of the smartphone on the popular Motorola Q forum, Qusers.com. The Q user, or Quser, spoke to a Verizon store representative, who told him that the phone would be in his hands by July 25th. The representative then mentioned that it should be available to the mass public by the 30th.

Although a few Qusers tried to find the rumor as faulty, mentioning that many Verizon store reps have no clue of corporate operations. Pony99CA had the following to say to the skeptics: 

“Maybe they aren’t the most clueful, but I suspect Verizon does give advance notice of when new handsets will be showing up at stores. Do you think boxes of handsets just show up at the store with no advance warning and the manager has to scramble to get them displayed?”

The Verizon version of the Motorola Q9, the Q9m, has been seen in the “wild”, so it’s only obvious for the handset to see its release very soon.

The Motorola Q9m is said to be very similar to the current Q, except for a few major changes. The body will be very similar to the Motorola GSM Q9 (pictured above) but it will feature a square D-pad. The Q9m should support VCast Music. The icons for Windows Mobile 6 will be completely customized with Verizon styling featuring a circular set of homescreen shortcuts for popular applications like camera, messaging, and music.
