Sony issues another Cybershot camera recall on 416,000 units

Sony can’t seem to catch a break these days, after issuing a recall for faulty batteries, camera with faulty sensors, it has now issues a recall on its Cybershot DSC-T5 cameras for another reason entirely.
It seems that some users have found that the casing on the DSC-T5 can warp, creating a sharp edge that can cut or scratch hands. Sony estimates that some 66,000 of the cameras in Japan are effected in addition to 350,000 that were sold in the US, Europe and China.
According to Engadget, 30 customers have reported the problem which may have ended up in hospital emergency rooms. Here’s a hint, if you feel something scratching or cutting into your hand, put the device down, I honestly can’t see how this would happen with the camera in operation but I suppose it is possible.
Sony is offering repair of the cameras but if you still have a 5.1 Megapixel point and shoot, I think it’s time to upgrade. Of course there are still thousands of Cybershot cameras out there that have out of the box E18 errors, I think that’s worthy of a fix too.
The company had a good thing going with its P series of cameras, why not bring those back with the same quality, corners have been cut somewhere as the reliability of Sony products seem of have been cut across all product lines.
