Google adds twist to your everyday news reading

Google adds twist to your everyday news readingGoogle news is making news reading a bit more interesting by adding a (never before seen?) feature to news articles. Google will allow the participants of an article to comment on their own story. Google isn’t talking about the journalists and bloggers who wrote the story but is talking about the actual participants who are in the story.

The Google News blog writes:

"We’ll be trying out a mechanism for publishing comments from a special subset of readers: those people or organizations who were actual participants in the story in question. Our long-term vision is that any participant will be able to send in their comments, and we’ll show them next to the articles about the story. Comments will be published in full, without any edits, but marked as ‘comments’ so readers know it’s the individual’s perspective, rather than part of a journalist’s report."

So take for example a story in which an important person is quoted. The news writers may misinterpret a quote, and the person who made the quote has the ability to go right to the story and comment his rebuttal.

Personally, I think this is great because some very big and interesting debates could break out right in front of our eyes involving some of the biggest players in  the ________ (you name it) industry. The possibilities are endless; bring it on Google.
