iFriend desktop PC completes your iPod
By Jonathan Schlaffer
For those of you that don’t have or want a Mac, Mouse computer has introduced a new desktop PC that will go nicely with your iPod. It’s not surprising that yet another company has jumped on adding an “i” to its product line.
The computers come in two styles, a slimline model and a standard microtower. I don’t like slimline models, these make it difficult to upgrade one of the most crucial components of any system, the graphics card but if you are strapped for space you may consider it.
Both offer up a variety of configurations including Core 2 Duo processors, 2GB of memory, hard drive capacities ranging between 250GB and 320GB, either a nVidia Geforce 8400GS or 8500 and DVD dual layer drives round out the package. I’m most disappointed with the graphics offerings, those looking for something more powerful should run to Dell or buy their own graphics card and upgrade the system. Of course, that 8800GTS will require you to replace the power supply as well, I don’t suspect these could handle it as configured.
The models are on sale now for right around $670 to $1,100 depending on configuration. Now if only they offered a black model, the circle would be complete or see if the folks at Colorware would be willing to do a paint job for you, to match your iPod Nano.
