Twitter’s opposite, PingMe asks what *should* you be doing
By Ema Kwiatkowski
Capitalizing on the popularity of Twitter, Zetetic LLC, recently announced the availability of PingMe, a free interactive reminder service that can be used on the web, in your email or via SMS/TXT.
PingMe is the opposite of Twitter: it poses the question “What *should* you be doing?” Users set up “pings” to be sent to your mobile device or email account at a certain date and time, and when you receive them you have the option to reply and reschedule. PingMe’s homepage states:
PingMe takes a unique approach to keeping track of things you need to do – it’s mobile and interactive. Just create a Ping, set a date and you’ll receive a reminder by E-mail or TXT to your phone. Not a good time? Pings are interactive! Just reply to the message to reschedule for a later date or time. You can even create new Pings on-the-fly from your mobile device, or tag your Pings to create contextual to-do lists.
This reminder service also provides limited social functions, helping people coordinate tasks and reminders with spouses, friends, family, and colleagues. Web users of PingMe see Pings like colored sticky notes on a whiteboard, and they can then be tagged to create lists organized by category or context.
PingMe looks very easy to use, and flexible enough to work as a simple to do list, or as part of a larger organizing system such as Getting Things Done. Zetetic says, “Put your mind at ease by offloading the need to remember everything you should be doing.” Check it out at http://www.gopingme.com/.
