15 minute touch time with Apple’s iPhone for sale in India
I can’t imagine who would go for such a thing but someone in India is selling touch time with his/her iPhone for $12 per every 15 minutes. Only in India.
It’s hard to imagine why someone would actually pay money to touch an iPhone but if you can’t afford one I guess it’s the only way to go. There are no Apple stores I know of in India (though there may be resellers of some kind) and I don’t know what network in India would support using the iPhone.
That being the case, a $12 “supervised” 15 minute encounter with the iPhone may just be the cure the doctor ordered for citizen of India to get their hands on an iPhone, I wonder if this person would be willing to let those interested make a call.
If someone tried this in countries where Apple has stores, I can only imagine what the repercussions would be from Apple legal or just angry people in general saying “how DARE you” but perhaps not so politely.

Where does Apple legal come into the picture for someone who is sort of “renting” out his iPhone to people who are willing to pay $$ to touch it?

Moreover there is no question of affordability here, it’s more a question of availability. Why do idiots in the US and other developed countries pay huge premiums on eBay etc to buy products when they are launched and are in short supply.
The author should probably keep his sarcastic criticism of people from non-apple store countries to himself.

TheGeek, would you pay $12 just to touch and play with an iPhone, even if the phone isn’t available in India, so not worth it.
Apple legal has no recourse in a country it has no stores in but I think that they might complain about someone doing it in a country where they do have stores. (Where you can walk into any AT&T or Apple store and see it for yourself).
I do not know what Apple legal would do, I’m just suggesting they might do something, not that they would.
Critiscism, I’m guessing you mean the whole “only in India thing” well, that could be the case for any developing nation, I suppose but this happens to take place in India and the folks in China have their own iPhone knock-off and I don’t hear about those offers coming out of any other country…
