MySpace hack lets you steal MP3s
By Danny Mendez
A certain website hacks MySpace to allow anyone to download MP3s from the social network’s music section, and the music industry may have a hard time shutting it down.
MySpace welcomes artists to create their own profiles in the music section of the social network. When visitors visit the page of these artists, they’re allowed to listen to a few non-downloadable songs from each respective artist.
According to Digital Music News, a relatively new website is gaining popularity as it allows users to download music from MySpace Music. All you need to do is head over to MyspaceMP3.org and search for an artist. Then pick and choose the songs you want.
Users report varying degrees of success with the site, and it seems to come off as glitchy and buggy at times. When I tried to search for artists, I only found songs from a few bigger names. Regardless, users seem to love the site as its “digg” numbers have hit four figures, but I’m sure I know someone who’s hating every moment of its existence.
For the RIAA, forcing the site to shutdown won’t be easy as its registered to Octavio Chango in Madrid, so it is very unknown as to how long the site will last. I’m sure this isn’t the last time we’ll see MyspaceMP3.org in the news, so I’ll let you guys know what’s up if and when anything goes down.
