Blocking Firefox because Mozilla allows AdBlock to be hosted on their site does not make you right or righteous, only opinionated. Click on Tools, Manage Addons, Find More Addons in IE7 and search for ad blockers.

If any website blocks Firefox, then my reaction is simply NEVER to visit that website again.

Grow up, Danny Carlton, you are NOT the only one providing whatever service it is that your web site offers.

The essence of marketing is providing consumers with what they want. No business model that forces things on people that they do not want will flourish. You do not need to spend the next decade learning this little fact of life – you heard it here already !

Just going into installing it, and no matter if you block me … If you’re as crazy as blocking every firefox, it’s your problem. And … nothing if free in internet … remember -> I pay every month to be able to visit your web site !!!

Blocking every Firefox user is just silly…
“Hiding” you ad block extension is also just silly…
I mean… If users should have the choise of blocking ads – the website owners should have the right to block those users too… right??? :-)

I don’t care much, if 2% of my users do not see my ads, but I think this is an ethical question…

I will keep finding a solution for detecting Adblocker Plus as long as I’m capable of thinking up the solutions, and as long as Wladimir Palant tries to hide his plugin from website owners!

No hard feelings – just playing hide and seek ;-)

I haven’t run into a site that blocks Firefox users yet.

But if I did, I’d just look for an alternate site that would provide the information I wanted, the product I was looking to purchase, etc. The vast, vast majority of sites have competitors whose online presence is easily accessible to Firefox users. If a site chooses not to do business with me because they don’t like my choice of browsers, it’s their loss.

Fine, fine, but nevertheless a majority of Firefox users do not agree with what you are doing and probably never will. Wanting to control the contents of your site is all well and good but when I (like other people I know) visit a site, do not want to see ads, despite us deploying ads on this site to generate revenue, people should not be forced to see them.

If you can say that you watch every single commercial on TV or on your DVR then maybe your argument would hold some weight. Because if you’re skipping over the ads, you’re stealing money from the network, I have the right not to watch their ads. Just like I have the right not to view yours.

Or, if you had just created a page that said “disable AdBlock Plus to view this site” might have been more acceptable.

Have you tried sending AdBlock Plus an email suggesting that feature?

Then there is the option of the ever popular donate box… but I’m just tossing thing out there.

The entire FireFox community? Why do I have more respect for FireFox users than you do? I wouldn’t dream of blaiming these delusional antics on all FireFox users. There are actually some decent, intelligent people out there that use FireFox. I’ve had several email me and tell me they agree with what I’m doing.

And to correct you, once again (it seems I must constantly do this) the point is, and has laways been (as I’ve told you specifically on numerous occasions) AdBlockplus won’t allow site owners the ability to block AdBlockPlus users. If they allowed that, there’d be no problem, because I’d still have control over the contents of my site. I would never had started blocking FireFox users in the first place. Why is that simple little concept so incredibly hard for you guys to grasp?
