Dell ships new XPS M1330 laptop without BIOS or operating system

By Jonathan Schlaffer

Dell ships new XPS M1330 laptop without BIOS or operating system Shipping delays, component shortages and even the paint jobs have delayed Dell from shipping many of the new XPS M1330 laptops on time or in a timely manner.  It seems that even if yours does manage to ship it may arrive with problems.

At least one XPS M1330 arrived ahead of the scheduled ship date which from Dell could only mean trouble.  The laptop was not put together properly with a faulty power button, lose wireless on/off switch, burned and ripped Microsoft seal and a protruding grill cover.  Certainly whatever assembled this laptop was not human (I’m thinking advanced primate).

Besides the cosmetic and somewhat annoying functional problems, the computer shipped without a BIOS or operating system.  Clearly someone was asleep at the switch, how Dell could let such glaring oversights slip past quality control (if there is quality control) is beyond me.

At any rate the gentleman is recieving a new laptop complete with priority build status and shipping plus a $50 coupon good for anything in Dell’s online store.  Way to go Dell, what’s next, shipping a desktop case without the motherboard?

You idiot the microsoft label appears ripped as it is an anti-piracy measure from MS.

    2. Jonathan:

I assume that when the ORIGINAL ARTICLE said that, the author meant in an abnormal way that would not result in the normal tearing. Ripped yes but slightly burned or scorched is not normal.

It amazes me that some of the other issues didn’t strike you as more pressing.

John was right, its an anti-piracy measure and it looked pretty much like scorched and burned… I was wrong too. You can see it anywhere just by google it. Have not heard anything from others who are getting the same problem as you did. Might just be your luck. :P
