Miracles do come true: Hackers prove iPhone unlock software solution
By Danny Mendez
Remember that website we told you about that’s pulling a publicity stunt to showcase their iPhone unlocking software? Well they just showcased it, and there’s video proof to boot.
www.iPhoneSimFree.com promised to publicly prove their software by unlocking an iPhone for free from their choice of 3 publications. Engadget was the first lucky publication to get their iPhone unlocked for free, and they’re now using an iPhone on the T-Mobile US network.
They note that everything works perfectly except for visual voice-mail, and once the new SIM is inserted, you have to go through the set-up process again. The software allows the iPhone to be restore/upgrade resistant, meaning that AT&T/Apple shouldn’t be able to block, brick, or mess up your phone/service in any way.
They have a video "proving" the unlocked iPhone works with the new SIM card, and, although technically it’s possible to create a fake video, I doubt these guys would. You can check out the video here.
Engadget also warns users that, while you most likely won’t get in trouble for unlocking your iPhone for personal use, the touchy subject of the legality of all of this isn’t certain either way. What I wouldn’t recommend doing is selling unlocked iPhones as that most likely will net you some legal trouble.

The kid who came up with what was really the first, albeit by a few hours, unlocking solution is here: http://thenewsroom.com/details/633981?c_id=wom-bc-js

if i’m not mistaken, that’s the kid that did a hardware unlock method… what’s beautiful about this software unlock method is that it’s easy and doesn’t require you to solder, possibly permanently messing up your phone and definitely killing ur warranty
