Google continues web domination with Google Wiki

By Sean P. Aune

Google continues web domination with Google Wiki In the unstoppable juggernaut known as Google, a new weapon is coming to bear soon in the form of “Google Wiki”.

Last October, Google purchased JotSpot, a wiki application provider, but nothing has been heard since.  Now some enterprising Google fans have uncovered a fairly ugly logo, and possible logins to “Google Wiki” inside the apps area of the website.

With the Office 2.0 Conference coming up in San Francisco, it’s no surprise that Google might have a new feature to unveil to the world.  With Microsoft launching their Live suite at the event, it is understandable that the Big G might want to have a counter-punch waiting in the wings.

The Microsoft Live app is seen as their attempting to take on Google Apps by adding an updated email program, a photo-sharing app, an update to Messenger, and Live Writer, the blog writing application.

As Wikis become more prevalent on the web, it should come as no shock that Google would want to try their hand at the same, and the purchase of JotSpot certainly hinted at this.  Now is the time to just sit back and see how yet another service from Google shakes up the turbulent landscape of web-based apps.
