By Ema Kwiatkowski

Which way do I point this thing?: dishpointer.com helps you out Save yourself the expense of a professional install the next time you need to point a satellite dish or a satellite radio antennae. Using Google maps, Dishpointer.com helps you point your dish like a pro.

Use Dishpointer.com. It’s easy. Choose a satellite, enter your location and hit go. Using a Google maps mashup, Dishpointer.com will visually show you which way to point your satellite dish.

Formerly called Satellite Dish Alignment/ Setup Calculator 2.0, Dishpointer.com now has a shorter name, and  is available for more users. Initially only available for a limited set of UK satellites, Dishpointer.com has  added more satellites and from the US, Spain, and France.

Once Dishpointer has been given a correct address, you can zoom in, and switch to satellite map view. When your house is in view, click and drag the icon to wherever you want to install the dish. The blue line shows you the direction to point.

Not only do you get visual pointing instructions, you also get your Lat & Log, information about the satellite, and the dish setup data. Including elevation, azimuth, and LMB skew.

Dishpointer.com is a great tool to use if you are trying to get a better signal off of your satellite radio, or for those times when wind or weather knocks your satellite dish out of alignment.
