Apple avoids the issue: Many 20″ iMac screens deemed defective

By Danny Mendez

Apple avoids the issue: Many 20" iMac screens deemed defectiveApple users unite! Our favorite gadget company we all love and hate sucked at quality control once again. Recently, owners of the new 20" iMacs have noticed that their screens tend to be dark and washed out at the bottom.

Apple 2.0 reports that the discussion has been taking place on Apple’s online support message boards, but Apple has tried to suppress the issue Nazi SS style. Users are complaining that Apple keeps shutting down their threads, which point out the issue with the 20" screens very clearly. "Apple is closing these threads left and right," says user Neil Birchler.

Fortunately, the users on the Apple message boards have stopped seeing these defective iMacs out in the wild, leading many to believe that Apple has stopped the defective batch from reaching the public any further.

Unfortunately, many can no longer trust the screen of the 20" iMac, leading some to upgrade to the 24" model, which uses a higher quality LCD panel. Others have simply opted to using an external monitor.

If you’ve bought a 20" iMac, there shouldn’t be cause for alarm. It appears that the issues with the LCD panel seem fairly obvious, so you should be able to easily tell if there were a problem with your screen.
