iPhone Dev Team strikes back at Apple’s threats

By Arnold Zafra

iPhone Dev Team strikes back at Apple’s threats iPhone Dev Team, one of  the groups that has successfully managed to unlock the iPhone so that it works with non AT & T phone networks, has issued a statement criticizing Apple’s announcement that unlocked iPhone would stop working once the latest iPhone firmware update was released.

The iPhone Dev Team urged users who have “unlocked” their iPhone to defer upgrading to the new firmware, for obvious reasons.

In the statement, iPhone Dev Team said that the removal of the lock, which it considers a bug, was a “break through” in the development of the iPhone. It contends that its unlocking tool made the iPhone free and useful to anyone, not only to those in certain countries.

“Based on download numbers, the iPhone Dev Team believes that, worldwide, several hundred thousand people have unlocked their iPhones,” boasted the iPhone Dev Team.

The iPhone Dev Team also announced that it will be releasing a software tool next week that will reset unlocked iPhones to their default factory settings. Specifically, the fix would recover nck counter and seczones of the iPhones that were previously freed from the AT &T network.
