Google becomes target of lawsuits due to deep pockets
There are plenty of companies out there that would like to be Google but with success and deep pockets comes all sorts of crazy lawsuits, that probably won’t hold up in court but even crazy people can file for a lawsuit.
According to the New York Times, the past few weeks has shown just how crazy that crazy can be as far as lawsuits go.
The craziest of them all is Dylan Stephen Wayne who wants $5 billion in damages from Google because he said that too much of his personal information can be found online and that this social security number is such that Google is a code word for it. Nut or no, this will tie up the court systems though I think psychiatric help is in order.
Now here is another case that has been filed in California by the Gogo tribe of Tanzia (the who from where?). This one was filed by Denis Maringo who is currently being detained at the CCA Houston Processing Center allegedly for political reasons. Yahoo is also listed as a defendant in the case because he argues that the name comes from the Yao tribe of Tanzania (who?). The whole claim revolves around that Mr. Maringo claims his grandfather was a Gogo and his grandmother was a Yao.
He asks that Yahoo and Google be barred from using those names and for $10,000 in damages for each Gogo and Yao tribe member.
All I see here are useless and frankly almost completely baseless lawsuits that any court in its right mind would toss out immediately without even hearing it and perhaps calling the plaintiffs names, I know I would.
