Gateway All-In-One Seems To Be iMac’s Distant Cousin

By Sean P. Aune

Gateway All-In-One Seems To Be iMac's Distant Cousin Gateway unveiled their all-in-one PC desktop, named The One, and there are several odd occurrences of déjà vu when you look at it.

Seeming to have taken several cues from the newest iteration of Apple’s iMac, the Gateway all-in-one system is a departure from the norm for the flailing computer maker.

Featuring a side mounted DVD slot, similar inputs layout, and a wireless keyboard and mouse, The One just feels, and looks, a lot like the 4th gen iMac, even in the steel and black color scheme.  The computer does offer an optional wall mount kit so you can place it on a wall, and you can also get a USB TV tuner adapter to turn the monitor in to a television.

The systems will be running in several configurations ranging from $1300 to approximately $1800.  Even the specs seem similar to the iMacs in hard drive and RAM capacities.

Formerly a Fortune 500 company, Gateway fell on hard times during the last few years, and, as of August of this year, the company is in the process of being acquired by the Taiwanese computer manufacturer, Acer.

I’ve seen the pictures and I’d have to say that it looks very sharp and stylish. I’ve always been pleased with Gateway, as I have owned a desktop and laptop and two more family members have Gateway laptops. I would like to see the One as a nice alternative to those that like the All-in-One package this and iMac’s are currently bringing to consumers
