Valve knows why gaming sucks on a Mac: Does Apple even care?
By Danny Mendez
It’s one of those questions a geek know will never have a straight answer: Why doesn’t Apple do more to get gamers interested in Macs? Well, game developer, Vavle, knows why.
Vavle’s Doug Lomrabdi commented on the issue in a recent interview with Kikizo. His theory on why Apple gaming sucks? Apple just doesn’t care.
Well, we tried to have a conversation with Apple for several years, and they never seemed to… well, we have this pattern with Apple, where we meet with them, people there go "wow, gaming is incredibly important, we should do something with gaming". And then we’ll say, "OK, here are three things you could do to make that better", and then they say OK, and then we never see them again.
Lomrabdi goes on to say that the pattern then continued with new Apple representatives who had no information from the last meetings. Essentially, Apple just doesn’t take gaming seriously, and everything developers ask them to do rarely, if ever, gets done.
ArsTechnica agrees and even views Apple’s latest attempt at Mac gaming with EA as only a "half-effort." The gadget blog goes on to say that if gamers were to game on a Mac, they’d need an iMac like computer with an interchangeable video card.
But this isn’t the only opportunity Apple’s avoiding. Apparently, creating a revolutionary phone isn’t on their agenda but creating a closed, annoying, DRM-filled music store is.

The biggest hurdle is the lack of interchangable parts especialy the GPU on a Mac. Even if you had Windows running in parallels or dual booting you are already way behind the GPU performace and technology curve. The lack of DX10 cards today is :( .

Hell, look at one of there(i don’t know if i will offend anyone if i call them by the wrong adress, becasue i have never owned a mac) computers, and you’ll see that theres no rawr power in there, its a FUCKING monitor! Would have to be a small GPU, let alone a low amount of CPU ussage. But mac continue to sell with the 3 letter word RAM. The only thing people over 50 can ever comprehend in a computer! Iv worked in a computer store for 2 years, all old people want is more fucking RAM for there fucking e-machines. But now im getting waay off topic and come to the point of this final EPIC conclusion
PC gaming:
Mac < PC (even though just about EVERYTHING is a fucking PC) But people are so fucking ignorent they cant realize that

In response to banana: Pointless? That is subjective. Anything could be considered pointless, even graphic art (of course it isn’t). Are sports pointless? After all it’s just a bunch people throwing a ball around a field, or running in circles. Of course not! Grow up.
The fact of the matter is that Apple is just ignorant and is missing out on a great business opportunity, which would really improve it’s market share and share price.
