Mozilla Preps A Mobile Version Of Firefox

By Sean P. Aune

Mozilla Preps A Mobile Version Of Firefox The Mozilla Foundation is preparing to bring their popular open source browser, Firefox, to a mobile device near you.

In a post on “schrep’s blog”, the plans for the mobile version are outlined, and what they need to even get started on the project.

The current plan places the project for some time after the release of Firefox 3, and nothing is set in stone yet as to which platforms it will run on.  They are currently looking for experts in mobile devices to join their design team to work out what their best options are.

Ultimately, they want a truly mobile version of Firefox that would allow for users to use the same extensions they have grown accustomed to.  Course, this might lead to some pages being blocked from users.
