iPhoneSIMFree: First 1.1.1 iPhone unlockWow. First, the iPod Touch jailbreak method gets published and tested. Then, an "official" method of jailbreaking the iPhone is released accompanied by "official" tools. Now, on October 10, 2007, the iPhoneSimFree team breaks through Apple’s latest walls in order to unlock the iPhone for use on other carriers.

They claim it to be the world’s first unlock for the iPhone 1.1.1 / 04.01.13_G Firmware, and they’re right. Up until now, any efforts to completely unlock the iPhone required users to keep from upgrading to 1.1.1 or downgrade to 1.0.2.

SimFree v1.6 is available at through various resellers around the world. Those who previously paid for the SimFree software won’t have to pay for the upgrade as upgrades are included in the original price. Although paying for a software unlock seemed silly at a time when various free unlock services were becoming available, after the 1.1.1 update, the iPhoneSIMFree team is the first group to get the unlock. Heck, they’re getting paid to do so, so they better get it out fast.

The SimFree unlock method is simple, painless, and easy, and they promise to continue to deliver updates to the unlock software with every Apple iPhone firmware update.

You can learn more about the unlock software at the iPhoneSimFree website.
