Google to increase Gmail storage before end of October

By Jonathan Schlaffer

Google to increase Gmail storage before end of October Google may well be on its way to offering users of the standard (free) Gmail service more storage.  It’s nothing that could rival competing services that offer unlimited storage but it will certainly be welcome.

Googlified estimates that more storage will be rolled out to users beginning on October 23, where Gmail should offer 4GB of storage.  By January of next year it is estimated to be 6GB.

If you find it hard to believe that, the latest post over at the Official Google Blog seems to indicate that storage increases are on the way though it does not go in to specifics.

Some may find that the free service still does not offer enough storage and the paid Gmail storage plans now offer more storage for the same price.  Or just use a competing service that offers unlimited storage for free.

As a lot of you know, Gmail is fairly new. Yahoo mail took a long time to finally allow unlimited storage, so Google has to adjust as well. Hey, they’re doing great for being out for just three years!
